Aaliyah'S 10 Anniversary Tribute

25 August 2011 marks exactly 10 years since R&B singer, Aaliyah passed away in a plane crash at the tender age of twenty-two years old....what are your most memorable Aaliyah moments ????? For me it was when I bought my first ever record, when my friends and I would tape her music videos in VCR days.

We would sing back to her songs, write the lyrics in music books and copy the moves on the videos. Some of my favourite songs were Age aint nothing but a number, are you that somebody, back and forth, more than a woman, rock the boat, we need a resolution, miss you and many more. Had she been alive today, she would be ruling the music industry; Beyonce has nothing on this girl.

Some say Ciara is the Aaliyah of our time but to me no one will ever replace Liyah. Her signature side fringe was HOT then and still is even today. The first time I had a weave on I had to have a side fringe. Young as I was when she passed away but I felt like I lost a friend and it made me realize just how short and fragile life can be.

I know exactly what Missy Eliot meant when she said "I think it's hard for Aaliyah to be duplicated, because she had her own lane”. Aaliyah may be gone but in our hearts she will leave forever through her music. RIP
