Workers month

Workers month

Just a few years ago South African workers were governed by one of the most racist laws the world has ever seen.  The   gaining of freedom and democracy in 1994 marked the beginning of change for the working class of South Africa, liberating them from the shackles of oppressive labour   laws of the illegitimate apartheid regime.

Workers’ month is the month to commemorate and acknowledge the working class of our country for driving the economy of this country forward, in so doing creating a better opportunity barring country for all its citizens. Workers Month has its origins embedded in the historical straggles of workers, which has grown and brought about progressive labour laws to play a significant role in protecting the rights of employees in our country further enhancing the freedom we are currently experiencing in this country.

As workers we should strive to work harder and do what we can to support each other, because we are directly responsible for what this beloved country can achieve and the extreme heights we as a nation aspire to reach in the future. Let’s support workers month by showing initiative, and support unions as a way to continuously protect the rights of workers during this month and beyond.
