DJ bust for speeding

Radio DJ “Gareth Cliff” was caught driving 182 kilometres an hour. Controversial radio personality Gareth Cliff was arrested for speeding in Pretoria on Tuesday (6Mar12) night, said Gauteng traffic police. 

Cliff was caught driving 182 kilometres an hour in a 120km/h zone on the R21 in Lyttelton by the High Speed Unit, said Gauteng traffic police spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo. 

He was expected to appear in court in Pretoria on Wednesday (7Mar12) on charges of speeding and reckless or negligent driving, she said. 

Some Twitter users expressed their sympathy for Cliff, but one said: “Just because he’s the best radio host in the country doesn’t mean we just overlook his wrongdoings”. 

Cliff also took to Twitter: “Rumours of my imprisonment are greatly exaggerated ...

'Mgqumeni' to stay in jail - Remanded in custody

South Africans will have to wait until next week to know whether the 28-year-old man who tried trick them into believing that he was the resurrected maskandi musician Khulekani "Mgqumeni" Mseleku is mentally fit to stand trial. 

Sibusiso Gcabashe, of eMaqongqo in Pietermaritzburg, shocked the country in January 12 when he popped up amid huge national and international media frenzy, claiming that he was Mgqumeni, who had died after a short illness in December 2009. 

Mgqumeni was buried in January 2010 at Mpofana, a rural area in Nquthu in northern KwaZulu-Natal. 

Gcabashe's claims attracted people from as far as Lesotho, Swaziland and across South Africa's different provinces, who flocked to Nquthu to get a glimpse of him and to see for themselves whether ...

School boards campaign

trufm embarked on a school name boards campaign whereby the station identified 22 school that are within the station’s broadcast area and created 22 school name boards and sponsored the schools. These boards consist of school’s name and trufm logo to ensure that the station’s commitment to education is highlighted.

trufm on-air personalities were on the road for a week with a maintenance company visiting all 22 schools installing the school name boards and motivating the learners to do extremely well in their studies in particular the Grade 12 students so that they can improve the pass rate in the province. trufm on-air personalities travelled as far as Port Alfred, Peddie, Fort Beaufort, Mdantsane, Dimbaza etc. to show that the station is ...

Snoop Dogg raps on daughter's dance track

Rapper Snoop Dogg has added his star power to his young daughter's new dance track Daddy's Girl. 

The Drop It Like It's Hot hitmaker's 12 year old, Cori, has been carving out a music career for herself and her latest song features her famous father. The star raps, "I'm gonna teach you what you got to know... I'm here to protect and hug you/'cause that's what daddies do." 

Gushing about her dad, Cori sings, "He gives me everything/everything I want."
