With US swimmer, Michael Phelps, on the verge of being an Olympic legend, China & the US are in a close tug-of-war over which country is top ranking.

In a morning where the Americans declared their dominance in the pool, Mike Phelps carved his named into the record books by equalling the all-time record of gold medals by adding a ninth to his name.

It was a moment where the US took top spot in this year Olympic rankings but the stubbornness of this years host nation, China, saw the Americans go back to 2nd place by the end of the day.

The Chinese gymnastic & synchronised diving activities added to the Chinese gold medal tally.

Only U.S. athlete Carl Lewis, U.S. swimmer Mark Spitz ...

Attack hero thought sword was fake

Injured worker of the sword attack that left a student dead at NicDiederichs Technical High in Krugersdorp said he initially thought the kids were playing.

Sam Namamela, 43, jumped in front of Stephan Bouwer to stop Morné Harmse from hitting the boy with a sword.

'I thought they were playing. Then I saw the laaitie with the mask,' Namamela said adding that he acted instinctively to save the pupil but had initially thought it was a plastic sword until young Harmse hit his colleague, Joseph Kodisang, across his face with the sword .

'He held the sword with both hands... then I heard how one child shouted for help. I yelled at Joseph andsaid we should run to JC (the foreman),' said Namamela who has been ...

The MTV VMA's are upon us so I felt it necessary to let you know who was on the cards to walk away with an award.

We're less than two weeks away from the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards and they say the big show will bebeamed live from Los Angeles' Paramount Pictures Studios on September7.

Yesterday the last of the nominees were announced and well Hiphop's biggest ego, Kanye West, made it on the nominees again... the rest are as follows!

Hollwood star's family dies in SA

Actress, Helena Bonham Carter, has halted filming of the latest installment of Terminator movie to go back to Britain after 4 of her family members passed away in SA.

4 of Helena's relatives were killed in a horrific car accident while on a safari vacation in South Africa. A minibus they were travelling in burst a tyre and spun out of control last week.

Among the fatalities were cousin Fiona Bonham Carter, 51, escaped witha broken shoulder. But Fiona’s son Marcus Egerton-Warburton, 14, hermother Brenda, 74, Fiona’s sister-in-law Kay Boardman, 54, and stepfather Francis Kirkwood, 75, all died.
