American pop and R&B singer whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith has confirmed girlfriend Monyetta Shaw is due to give birth in January. 

He said “I am 30, and I do have my first child on the way, and I'm very, very, very excited about that. It's a New Year's baby."

A goal by striker David Villa earned Spain a 1-0 win over neighbours Portugal and a World Cup quarter-final place after an entertaining match yesterday in which the Portuguese also created several chances. 

Spain had started the game stronger, dominating possession in the early moments, with forwards Fernando Torres and Villa forcing Eduardo to palm away three long distance efforts from the left wing in the first seven minutes. 

Spain will meet Paraguay, who earlier won a penalty shootout against Japan after a 0-0 draw, in the quarter-finals.

SAFA is sticking to its guns by appointing Pitso Mosimane as head coach of Bafana Bafana. This comes after Safa made a commitment in November that a South African will be employed to take over the baton from Carlos Alberto Parreira for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. 

SAFA management committee members will meet today to start the ball rolling regarding the elevation of Mosimane to the position of head coach. 

SAFA leader who asked not to be named said “We have not made contact with Pitso as yet but he is going to be the new coach. There are two or three members who are not happy with Pitso, though. But the general consensus is that he should be our head coach.”
