South Korea coach wants oxygen masks

South Korea coach Huh Jung-moo has requested oxygen masks for his team to help them prepare for playing at high altitude during this year's World Cup finals in South Africa. 

Huh had requested the masks, which will reduce oxygen intake to replicate the thin air in parts of South Africa, but officials were also looking at other options. A Korean Football Association official said “We are looking at all possibilities, including so-called altitude tents with less oxygen.”

100% local music

trufm and other 14 SABC radio station will play 85% local South African music, while 15% of the time will be dedicated to music from around the African continent. 

SABC group CEO said “We have taken this decision to play only African music during this period, in order to further promote our home-grown music and music from our African Counterparts. 

"We must remember that during this time, we will be having a variety of foreign guests on our soil... it is important that they are exposed to our culture musically and otherwise."

Mel B wants a baby boy

The 34 year old Melanie Janine Brown well known as "Mel B" who has daughters Phoenix, 11, and Angel Iris, three, from previous relationships and husband Stephen Belafonte, who also has a child, six-year-old Giselle, have been talking about expanding their family further and hope to have a brother for their girls. 

She said”I love kids. Between me and my husband, we have three. So yeah, we definitely want to have some together, which would be good. 'It would be nice to throw a boy in there too because we’ve got three girls. We’ll see.”

Mandela to skip opening ceremony

Nelson Mandela hold the world cup trophy after SA was announced as the hosts of the 2010 Fifa World Cup.

The 91 year old former South African President Nelson Mandela plans to skip the opening ceremony of the football World Cup in South Africa in June and will watch the tournament from home. 

Mandla Mandela said “Certainly not. My grandfather at this age is very elderly and we are not trying to intensify his programme.” “He’s said he would prefer to be at home in the rural countryside to spend time at the farm.” 

He added “What we understand is that during the World Cup he will be given the opportunity to rest in the countryside.” A final decision will be made by the family and the Nelson Mandela Foundation closer to the start date on June 11.
