Angry mob beats suspect to death
A mob of angryresidents, apparently fed up with crime in East London’s inner citysuburb of Quigney, attacked a suspected thief and beat him to death.
Sixmen have been arrested in connection with the killing, which happenedin the early hours of Friday morning at the Quigney Body Works.
Eyewitnessessaid a mob of about 50 people took part in the attack. The attackerssprayed their victim with fluids that appeared to be paint and dieseland tied him to a tow-truck, according to police.
Accordingto owner Makhanya Ketile, a man believed to have been homeless wascaught by a security guard allegedly stealing a tyre from one of thecars at the workshop at about 2am.
Residents from old railway buildings near his premises were woken up by the commotion and rushed to the scene.
